If I’m honest I want a rapid thaw! It’s horrendous outside, cars encased in ice, dread to think what pavements are like. Hope my plants/palms/bushes aren’t killed off by the ice ?

still loads of snow everywhere, but it’s of little use I would think. Not ventured out yet. Need to find a crash helmet first

Rapid thaw is looking unlikely. This will be remembered for years.

Finally got a need  to wear my snow boots  for first time since 2010! No chance of driving to the pond to feed the ducks & swans, I'll have to walk it.

I've rang in. I know some nurses have stayed on site since yesterday. I work in kitchens. Everyone in the same boat. Nothing we can do. I'm hoping someone can pick me up. It's only a 25 minute walk but impossible.

My daughter is a carer and her manager said to bring in an overnight bag incase she can’t get home tonight

Just ventured outside. We have about 2cm of pure ice on top of the snow. My car is frozen solid and won't be defrosted anytime soon. It is lethal out there.

This ice is evil! Not sure what the hell we do to be honest! Almost 20cm on the nose of snow yesterday then hours of ice. Had it all been snow I would have been rivalling totals that @Nights King has maybe. Someone get me some skates ?‍♂️

weather forecasting can not accuratly predict the weather days ahead... especially snowfall, its often marginal, streamers appear at short notice and the location effected is different even with small changes to the wind.  How about people learn about weather and nowcast by looking at the radar (would have helped if metoffice radar actually worked through this coldspell)

What a great snow day, yesterday!
4 inches here. Started to melt this morning already.
All clam here now, white on the ground, white in the sky.
We did not get any of the blizzards or strong winds predicted, wind has remained constant at 10-16 mph with 18 - 25mph gusts.

0c at midnight, 0.2c at 3am, -0.4c at 6am

It is now -0.3c, 988hPa, dewpoint is -3.7c

Unbelievably this part of dartmoor has developed a snow shield. Hasn't really snowed or had anything fall from the sky since 11 last night. The angle of the in coming showers have hot the south Eastern part of the moor and deflected it around. Consequence minimal snow depth of 4cm.
