Snow turned to big fat flakes 45 mins ago, which looked great but felt ominous.

Freezing rain is now tinkling away on the Velux upstairs.

Bonkers day of weather. Still love it.

Yeah 100%.

I still suspect a fair amount of PPN from the thicker stuff on the south.

Looks good for you guys, no doubt! Not jealous... :wallbash:

So how does this compare to the snow event of 2010?

BUST!  Good luck to all those chasing an ice day - especially it's your first this winter.

And good luck to everyone with the potential developments over night.  Stay safe.

Fingers crossed!

Been having steady small ice snow for hours. Probably a good 2 inches in general. 10+ in the drifts.

Even had snow pushing under the fire escape down the local :)

Still a very heavy mix of snow and ice pellets here, not that'll I'll be sleeping much anyway with what's showing on the radar that's still to come but the noise of these damn Ice  pellets would keep me awake anyway!

Here, we had a massive dumping of snow right from the onset. It never thawed until the end of the long event, even from the main roads through Cheltenham. The ground was too cold for the grit/salt to work. It was perishingly cold but the dew points weren't so low as we have just experienced. I got a reading from my dangler sensor of -14C one night. My pipes froze and we loved every minute of it.

Snow still torrential here... no sign of it ending.

Truely epic.

I love that sound and really reminds me of being up in the NW Scottish Highlands.

Not sure if I’m adding picture correctly, but yes, it was me with the black bits falling with the ice pellets. Very odd. I’ll head into the village tomorrow to see how widespread they are.

Both HIRLAM and ARGEPE broadly similar. In the next 24 hours, 10-15cm for S Dorset, 5cm ish for me. Happy days!

Christ really ?

Incredible if that happens ...

Better for me, didn’t get anything like the snow I’ve seen today. Easily my best snow event in my lifetime down here

Looking good here in Yatton. The heaviest seems to just dodge here all the time but still a very decent amount.

Quite agree. As I said earlier today, if you add 2009 and 2010's snowfall up from here, it wouldn't match today's total.

Just put recycling in the porch and the drifts are quite impressive! Considering it's been mainly light to med snow!

Went out at around 9 and measured 16 cm on the lawn.

Just now, measured 16.5 cm but with a cm crust of ice on top. I’m surprised to see that already this far (about 15 miles) inland. Luckily the precipitation rate is mixh lower than it was an hour ago. Could still cause some trouble though as those heavier bands still out in the Channel are of some concern.
