We should start a group for depressed people who live in snowless areas

Plenty of people will be laughing at me in here I know I am not popular in the slightest. Today should have been a nailed on epic. All around me talks of 39 cm depths and I have a dusting. Struggling to come to terms with this.

My car is covered in ice so are my house doors and windows

I went outside into the garden and experienced an ice storm for the first time, the snow is frozen the daffodils are frozen and blown flat.

Still no dripping so everything is still white, but glistening in the torch light.

Amazing.

Stay safe and everyone else getting this, be prepped for power outages.

I know!! About 7 inches/17-18cm level out there now!

My weather gauge says -2.3 C , I thought I'd heard ice a minute ago against the window but I can't hear anything now .

Tomorrow will be an ice rink if it turns to freezing rain .

Relative humidity is 92% that has risen sharply. So the snow is less dry than before . I'll need to keep an eye out I think .

Red warning area was bang on, fair play.

At one point on the radar it looked like we were in for another good 5-10cm at least, but just missed us.

Yes I think it is pivoting across to the red warning areas.

I fear the same. Seems to be just skirting us for the past couple of hours.

Certainly looks that way guys - I'll remain positive for now but not looking overly promising at this moment :)

The met office got it right, W-S-M was just in the red zone.

Incredibly rare, thank you and to Matt too. Stay inside, make sure you have airflow from your homes and like I advised Mapantz, put a little vaseline (if its not too late) around the moving parts of windows. If your front door is a tight fit, open it when safe then put some vaseline around the frame and the door latch..

Thanks, got a few more.  Padlock, Leaves, Car headlight.  Not wet, but totally hard glazed.   Overhead power cables are coated also, but too high to take a picture.  Got a south facing front door, so no issues to get outside thanks.

Positive is we're in a good position for tomorrow's snow. Not as heavy but I recon potential for a couple more inches.

I'm pivoting. Just seen someone surfing the drifts in an ice storm. Nice!

If you took the building away, thats the Arctic!

Looking out of my window, the feel has changed. Its night, cruel, cruelest cold. Bitter wind, a few inches of powder, looks primed for a few feet to be added to it. So thankful for a roof over my head.

The fact we had this snow at all is a bonus for me! I was expecting winter to end with nothing except the brief dustings back in December to be honest. Love it. Approx 10cm here but just on hill behind the town around 15cm. Drifts blowing across the A38 too. Don't think I have seen that before.

It is dangerous out there. Everything covered in ice. Been a great day but this is not good.
