It does help if you have a small person as an excuse when it come to the sledging part, but if you haven't ...who needs excuses :):):):):):):):):):

Had around 30cm over the last three days in the north east. Still a little envious of thy radar!

Freezing rain here, everything is looking wet but it is frozen as the rain hits it.

I have a plank of wood leaning on the shed, torch showed the rain hitting it, when I touched it it is ice.

Be careful on the Isle Of Wight tonight. People North of me watch out for the ice.

I could name you dozen of instances of lightning that never made it on the radar. The flash looked far too bright to be from anything else.

Lightning detectors often pick up mainly positive CGs. Cloud to cloud lighting sometimes gets missed.

Kind of dissapinted, was hoping it could be snow until at least late evening to increase depths further (also didn't have it as heavy as the snow recently across Somerset)

I guess I shouldn't complain though!

Radar echoes coming towards me are parting like the red sea atm though. However, radar echoes 'weakening' may be good news for some, as it could mean it's transitioning back to snow as it pushes towards them (I believe ice pellets/freezing rain/melting snow etc reflect more strongly than powdery snow).

True I'm unsure whether tomorrow's event is likely to be as significant as today's but what I can be sure is that any snow that does fall is likely to be of the wetter variety.

Very true. The sheer bitterness of the cold and the persistent powdery snowfall has reminded me a lot of the great two day blizzard of Jan 82. Who knows, by the end of tomorrow we may even have snowfall totals somewhere approaching that incredible event.

Princetown is cut off think the road is just passable to yelverton. Think we have missed the worse of the heavy snow.
