Just checked MET office radar and although we have only been in the lighter ppn so far we have a decent covering and blizzard conditions.

Glancing south the really heavy stuff looks poised to head north, although it looks to disintegrate as it moves north the front should help to actually bring it inland as the evening/night progresses.

I just saw that maybe it’s the power lines shorting out with all this freezing rain

Exactly what I'm thinking nothing on lightening detector.

Sounds like hail against the window, I don’t like it. I’m on a major downer ☹️

A day of pretty much constant light to moderate snow in gusty winds here in South Glos.. In the last hour the winds have picked up even more and the snowfall become heavier.

I would imagine many roads in the area impassable in the morning.  And then tomorrow it looks like we may get to do it all again! A truly memorable event unfolding.

Yep. Seems to have got heavier with slightly larger flakes over the past few minutes.

I could name you dozen of instances of lightning that never made it on the radar. The flash looked far too bright to be from anything else.

Going out for a walk in a bit, looking forward to sledging and picture taking tomorrow, is this normal for 46?

True I'm unsure whether tomorrow's event is likely to be as significant as today's but what I can be sure is that any snow that does fall is likely to be of the wetter variety.

The falling snow is really swirling around in all directions. I really should venture out but 'er indoors thinks i'm a bit over the top when it snows like this:D

I've literally just come in from doing a 3 minute video. Absolutely epic!

I will try to post shortly. The wind with that snow is insane! Wow!

And one of the back garden from still snowing in Exeter...taken at 8:30pm. With another 5 hours or so in the red zone.

Ok, had a great afternoon in the snow with the boys. But confused with current radar precipitation type.

Snow or freezing rain overnight ?

Heaviest I've seen it snowing all day and if the flakes were bigger it would be one hell of a blizzard.

Snow unlikely as 850s are above freezing. Freezing rain most likely.
