Much heavier here now. Currently at 4.5cm. Drifts of 6-7cm.

I think that more than 20cm of snow seems likely in Exeter now. The radar is intensifying and we have many more hours of snow still to come. I think the red warning will be very justified if the intense blob below reaches us.

Just waiting to hear about enormous snow drifts against the fencing of the M4 as snow refused to go over it! Didn't really mean that but it is so good to finally get a good dumping here!

Perhaps a dribble could cut through just for us up in the Cotswolds? :pardon:

It's a weird feeling when things go exactly as you hoped lol.

Where's the downgrades and disappointment :cc_confused:

So you take back your dismissal of my forecast for a monumental snow storm do you, Bristle Boy?

Kind of. Although hyperbole of "monumental" is prob slightly exaggerated:D

I think we may be approaching a NYE 78 within next few hours (imby).

Latest measurement 8cm in Exeter, and still going!

....and in Exmouth I would say at least double that (16 cm + or over 6" in old money) and it's getting much heavier now. I'm on a huge mountain at 65 m asl - the second highest hill in town on the the far north-east edge about 2 miles inland. Still around -4.5c.

Some evidence - pics taken at 1630, March 1st:

There is a road under all that  :D                       and a 12 cm curb somewhere!                    Will that car be buried in the morning?

1st day of Spring but the daffs might not agree!  The last two are cheating a bit - with snow sliding off the roof and that ruler is upside down (I'll do it correctly tomorrow morning, first light). The bin was emptied this morning - honestly!

A neighbour told me that there are some big drifts at the end of the road and I'll walk (or slide) down the hill tomorrow to take more pics and I will need my tape measure rather than my ruler  :)

Some children were sledging down the hill which would normally be quite dangerous but only a 4x4 or someone with snow chains or winter tyres could get up the hill now and it's completely deserted out there traffic wise. Right, it's getting close to white out now, so I'll check the radar etc.and do a quick update in a minute. This is amazing - I feel more like a 6 year old than a 65 year old :)

4x4 is picking the wife up for work and bringing her back. She works for 111 so not going in isn’t an option ☹️

Conservatory roof covered over an dlikeanktjer poster said it's like icing sugar out there

the cat is disgruntled but tough .  The radar is certainly showing some exciting things going on . I think it's best to stay put tomorrow and enjoy Mother Nature .

Hmm. I think our Amber will actually be RED.

Are you in Cheltenham? Is there much settled there at the moment?

Some people reporting apocalyptic whiteout blizzards, whilst others a few miles away asking when the heavy stuff starts. Gotta love forums, lol

Here, we have around 2 inches on patio table, more on grass where it's drifted. Still not much on paths and roads that I can see outside. Still talcum powder stuff, but looks impressive when a gust of wind mixes it with what blows off roofs

Looking at the radar I'd say there's plenty more.

Can anyone shed any light as to why barnstaple is not getting anything. Will we get anything at all today?

A couple of cm of very fine talc snow. Wind is getting up and its blowing around like smoke. Still snowing but so fine its hard to see it amongst the blown stuff. The air looks foggy with it.
