No wonder Louise has got that look of shocked horror on her face.....I mean, fancy being daft enough to do a weather forecast in a blizzard without a coat on! :fool::laugh:

How is barnstaple set to feature i this? We have Light snow and no accumulations at present.

Feels like it's closing in around us a bit more now in braunton. The burrows are beginning to disappear from view.

Bristol people saying only light? I must have my own micro climate here, I would say moderate.

Don't know if anyone's around the Yate area? But it's light at best here.

Sure that will change very soon though.

I think this has edged further east than even the latest forecasts (which is a good thing I believe!)

The latest ARPEGE run has this scenario at 1600 our time:

Whereas the reality is a definite eastwards extension of the precipitation to the south of us:

It's heavier over Keynsham way now so it is coming for you.  Not major heavy though.

A few of you are still misinterpreting these charts :)  The vast majority of our blizzard will not move up from France and Biscay - it will develop rapidly much closer to home in the Channel as the flow engages with our dense cold block and tries to under cut it but rises over it. So watch both the infra red satellite as well as the radar. In about an hour to two hours (1630 to 1730) there will some mind boggling developments.  David

EDIT:  @divadee   Definitley and the red warning area should be expanded very soon :)

Where would you extend it?

My usual work route that Dean E! Glad I’m not on that this afternoon. Coming back from London instead today to Winchester where I hear the snow has pepped up a bit.

I have to hand it to Louise Leah that I thought it was very brave to show the weather system that we are now seeing on last Thursday’s weather for the week ahead but here we are. My we’ve come along way with forecasting the weather even when it doesn’t always quite go to plan.

Can anyone in Brixham area confirm if that funnel/tornado is legit?

Also, managed to sweet talk more precise locations of potential freeIng rain from Aidan “I’d do him” McGivern

It’s great it’s expanding etc, but what does that mean overnight and into tomorrow? We don’t want it going to far north surely..?

We've had steady light snow with fine flakes all day here in Reading, with the heavier falls staying to the south of us so far, although now approaching. Current temperature -1.8 with about 2cm level snow cover (drifting a lot so difficult to measure accurately).

I’d say Bournemouth’s snow is going to get quite a bit heavier shortly.

Its looking good for a large section of the south right now. Let’s hope we keep it as snow right down here on the coast. The flakes are starting to get a bit bigger I fancy, to be expected.
