One thing I have noticed is that Hollywood got it completely wrong...

"The Day After Tomorrow" is in fact the day before tomorrow......lol

Not that looking at the GFS matters now, but on the 12z much of the red and amber warning areas are under continuous snow till Saturday at 3am!

Had heavy snow for a while but only tiny flakes so while it is settling we really need bigger flakes to  get a good covering going.

I have between 1cm & 2cm's here from all light snow so far.  However, something a bit more heavier looks like coming up from the South over me soon.

Heavier stuff is over us now and still snizzle.

I've noticed the winds aren't increasing as much as forecast. Perhaps there's a delay? It's windy, but only gusting to around 17mph, with speeds of 10mph. Not speeds of 20mph and gusts of 40 according to current forecasts.

Like any vigorous low, the wind fields are not evenly distributed.

My goodness look at that blood red blob of amazingness!

Bigger flakes here now, nothing major but they are definitely bigger now.

Agreed I mean well we're in the same location so it should, but visibility greatly reduced and still many many more hours of snow, would surprise me if the Met Office DIDN'T extend the area of the red warning.

Wow just wow. I honestly did not expect this. I understand the worst is yet to come? Oh my! At the moment it's about on par with 2010 but I'm sure it will surpass that. Grit isn't doing anything at all. The roads are lethal. Everyone is trying to get home from town as shops have closed early. It's a spectacular event here in Poole

I don't see long periods of heavy snow for us but we should see some short periods of heavier snow over the next few hours.

With all that PPN on the radar still to come, albeit a lot of it light for us, I can see it snowing lightly literally all night.

Then we have the potential of another band of snow tomorrow afternoon.

Bristol people saying only light? I must have my own micro climate here, I would say moderate.

I love how quiet the roads round here are, looks like most people actually heeded the warnings and stayed at home. Pretty much a whiteout now and the proper heavy stuff hasn't even arrived yet!

Well not everyone, this was the M27 nr Fareham/Hedge End about half hour ago...

Anyone else find it annoying that the met office have disabled their weather maps. They have forecast heavy snow for us from 2100 to 2300 tonight so it would be nice to see the feature they reckon will deliver this on a map so you can see it's past track and it's predicted track. The UKMO seems to be at odds with the BBC. I wonder who is right. It's nice to see the green area on the netweather radar staying south of the isle of wight. Looks like there's some heavy bursts coming our way hopefully. The BBC still reckon we're in for another snow event tomorrow afternoon but the met office are having none of it.
