Is anyone in North Devon? How is it?

I'm in braunton - north devon. Been very fine stuff off and on here all day.  Nothing settled so far. Feels like it could be picking up but not sure.

Post another picture when your fence disappears!

At the moment the grass is mostly covered apart from a few taller bits poking through but the path on the front garden is almost completely clear as the winds blowing all the snow off.

Medium flakes on the Isle of Wight and how persistent!

I do have a dilemma though I suffer from a bad neck and had surgery last year - do you all think it would be sensible to keep my head at an angle looking out the window??- sod the doctors advice!’

Certainly looks like you're in the direct firing line for the heavy stuff as per your Meto red warning.:good:

V persistent, powdery snow up here in Stoke Gifford - laying a nice base:D

Good to hear BB.

Proper snow or very fine? As Ben said, it's like dandruff falling from the sky here.

Now back in Weymouth and looking out the window in amazement. After apparently non stop snow here since mid morning, a combination of the wind and the small, ridiculously dry almost dust like flakes means the garden is far from being covered. Never seen snow like that here. To be fair, I’ve hardly had many occasions of seeing snow here full stop!

Going to be watching that intense channel PPN that a hawk. I don’t want to jinx it, but I will. Looks like it may have Dorset’s name on it. There, now I’ve gone and done it!

I agree with all of what you said! I'm amazed, Weymouth doesn't see snow like this. It's like something like a movie!

It's proper fine powdery snow:D

It hasnt stopped since 1 oclock. It reminds me of the great NYE 1978 blizzard (winter 78/79). Fine stuff with winds for first few hours then boom!!:D

My Meto app has been all over the place today.

First of all it dropped all my snow today to just patchy light stuff and changed it to nothing at all tomorrow, now its got light snow the rest of the day, heavy stuff from 2200 for a couple of hours, the Friday batch has been put back on from 1900 for the whole night and now also snow all night Saturday into Sunday!

The warm-up has been put back until Monday :)

Went for a wander, as the snizzle turned to proper snow. There wasn't much around, maybe a centimetre or two, but whole patches of ground were bare where the snow had been blown away. The wind was incredible, even for here. My footprints had been completely filled in on my return journey.

It's now coming down steadily, moderate to heavy and I'm in the warm with half an eye on the drinks cabinet.. Bring it on! :yahoo:

P. S nice work IOW'ers!

But what's it to be CE?

For me, on a day like today* and in honour of this thread; it can only be.

At least 6 cm in the last hour and around 8 cm overall. My road is filled to the curbs and is starting to drift badly. I get out there later and take a pic of the biggest drifts. Dropped to below -5c now amazing stuff. All this before the real blizzard starts, although this is not far off it anyway. Don't worry, for everyone in :)  southern England and south Wales it's coming your way

As people have said like heavy snizzle hope the flakes get bigger soon

It is currently minus 4c so 'dry' snow - when temps rise up to just below freezing flakes will get bigger as more moisture engages (i think):D

Anyone got any good webcams for Devon/Cornwall?

Sadly they appear thin on the ground for East devon/Exeter other than ones on the coast which may not give a true reflection of conditions.  Exmouth one here http://www.exmouthcam.co.uk/ Starcross (you have to wait) here http://www.starcross-fcc.com/webcam/ and dawlish here http://www.dawlishwarren.info/webcam/

Moderate, occasionally heavy, persistent snow here in Exeter since just after mid day. About 2-3 inches settled.

Never in my life did I think it would be to cold to snow in Bristol that in its self is remarkable!
