Hello @jy Re: your message. I can't paste an image on that chat, so here's the gap...

I'd make the call once this lighter stuff blows through.

hi-res modelling has snow risk extending much further east than that!

Yes AJ. Some had our area as the cut of point, some even had it as far as the chilterns. West of London.

We wont get completely snowed in here and we have 1 minute walking access to a Tesco Express and Co-Op but still went out to Morrisons to get 2 days supplies in.

Beef and veg stew on the go for this eve and cake in oven - ta to my darling wife:D

4L of cider in fridge, tonic in fridge.

Local pub for a couple around 3.30 today i reck.

Hoping there's no larry letdown this eve.

Stay safe to those esp in higher areas further South from here.

If you go back shove a load more hay on the floor, we did on ours... Be safe going back and give the neddies a carrot from me :friends:

Only one is rugged up who is clipped but the other two aren't, they are very hairy and considering they are in their mid/late twenties, they are lovely and toasty. They've got a lovely semi deep littered straw bed too so think they will be ok. I've always had them at home in snow so not used to not being able to get to them! They have giant turnips in the car waiting for them ?

Very heavy powder snow in Weymouth now. It's blowing around in the wind!

Be gone the curse of the Dorset Snow Shield, be gone!!!!

I am still holding my nerve at work, sat a few miles north of Dorchester (wondering if I may be leaving it a bit late).

Going to give it another half hour and then will be shutting down and heading back for an ice cream and a paddle in Weymouth.

When I look at this satellite image, it looks like the bulk of it is heading NE.

But if you look at the radar it looks like it's already swivelling west?

Was just going to post the same....looks like part of the low is spinning off north west but some is heading steadily NE. Could we see a secondary low develop? Excuse me if I'm being a bit niaive... I'm no expert at all.

Dilemma time.....just been out to the workshop to stock up on logs and realised the two front doorside Christmas trees are still there, still with their needles. Now....do I get them out, deck them with lights and pretend big time when they're covered in snow? Would it be a step too far if I hauled the huge Nordman up the garden and put it up in the sitting room? Still hasn't dropped any needles.....would hubby think I'd totally lost the plot when he got home? Do I care?

Definitely put them up!

Well, it's certainly been an eventful day for weather here, with our first 'proper' snow since January 2013 finally arriving in the early hours. With the temperature at -2.7 at midday this could possibly turn out to be the coldest day here since I moved to Reading in 2002. Add the wind chill and I don't think I can remember anything feeling as severe since January 1987.

Fabulous. Yes it is a worry I think not being able to get to them. Yes we were surprised the other morning when it went into the double minuses just how toasty they were - almost too warm. Think their natural body regulating temp thing is kicking in. Amazing really. Good luck and keep me posted! Us equines need to look out for each other :).. PS West Dartmoor where abouts are you - I have a horse friend in West Dartmoor too with a huuuge 4 x 4

Maybe this is why HIRLAM was so widespread?

it's disrupting which is good news and will increase moisture advection northwards and eastwards increasing snowfall risk for central/southern & SE England....The ECM modelled this last night

When checking met website put in heingstbury head as opposed to Southbourne beach as the first has 3/4 hours heavy snow where as the other has light snow. To be fair they are about 1/4 of a mile apart?? although go for Southbourne start time which is 3 as opposed to the other at 6.

Nope. Just shown on This Morning (ITV). A 'forecast' radar graphic from Meto i guess. They ran the loop. SW Yes, Bristol and to East looks like more marginal going by that radar prediction.

Your area looks right in firing line.

I'll stay at work then in that case

I've been in the outside porch having a mug of tea and smoke.. I can't quite believe what i'm seeing, and it's not even snowing properly, yet. The snow is also blowing underneath the fascia and coming down on me while inside of the porch. lol

Temperature at Reading uni is -3.3 at 12:30. Temp in Tilehurst is -4
