Here in Portsmouth, got that slightly sick feeling that we could miss out completely - the ARGEPE has updated and shifted so now roughly in line with the Met Office warnings which I'm now 5 miles outside - still suggesting up to 5cm tonight here (I'd take that right now) and maybe a few more cm tomorrow - but I'm still concerned it will all be frozen rain instead.

Really,  really pleased that it looks like the Purbeck/Bournemouth snow shield is being shattered though. Enjoy your red zone further west!

In the same boat as you. Hoping that the hirlam is right now after putting all my eggs in the aperge basket! Think I have the same nagging doubt as you though in reality.

Little bit of snow earlier, stopped now so just waiting for this afternoons event.  I had to drop my car in for a service this morning, amazed how quiet the roads are, less traffic than on a Christmas day.

Does anybody know if the approach of the front coming up from the SW, will slow as it bumps into the cold air?

Let us know if he says anything good?

He said certain models on the 6z run were showing more snow for Bristol area and he would be keeping an eye on the radar to see how it moves and warnings can change.

He said its an ever evolving animal so other areas not just red areas could get plastered. latest models show mendips/bristol and other areas also at risk.

We shall have to wait and see.

About 3cm of snow here after this mornings light fall, moderate for a short time. Clearing up now.. Eyes to SW. Think we will be right on the NE edge of this, somewhere Wiltshire will do well. Especially down towards Somerset/Dorset. Enjoy!

Latest HIRLAM looks very promising for more central areas too :)

This makes me feel better.

Was getting worried that it's gonna be too far west but looks to be plenty of heavy PPN for much of the south. Bring it on

I suggest ignoring the red area, what ever colour is on that map doesn't dictate actual weather!
