WWhat do you need to get a red warning? And what action do you have to take?

When the amber becomes reality it will go red, by tomorrow morning would be my guess........

We're just one jump from a Red.

Worth noting this could be underdoing it, not taking into consideration 1:15 ratio, but I’ll take it either way

I need to stop viewing the St. Ives Webcams, absolutely belting it down! Jammy sods, wish I was down there, snow pretty much all but gone from here now, except from sheltered spots.

These showers just keep picking up moisture over Torbay, then intensifying over the South Hams Peninsular and dump it all on Wembury, Heybrook Bay and later down into the Lizard I guest

The snow seems a bit wetter.  It has obscured the lens on one of the web cams. Air Temp -2.6c DP -3.6c

Radar looking more crowded with snow showers coming towards me, than it did an hour ago.

An hour or so of that will dump a foot somewhere.

And the local rag has it nailed..apart from the fact 11am came and went unnoticed with bright sunshine (oops)

THE Met Office has upgraded its weather warning of snow for Dorset from yellow to amber.

And there are predictions of heavy snow today at 11am and snow at 2pm.

An amber warning, which is valid from 12pm on Thursday until 8am on Friday, means there is a low likelihood" but it could cause a "high impact”.

:nonono:we’ll have none of that :acute:

I think we'll need all our collective positivity for tomorrow in the hope Bomo can join the fun. There is a lot riding on it now......including my decision to "work at home" tomorrow and cancel two meetings :)

Depends where you are but to state the obvious - do not attempt to drive unless it is absolutely essential

People in rural locations would need to consider the possibility of being without power for an extended period and take appropriate precautions.  People with health issues would be advised to have stocked up on essential medications.

Then there is the good old British approach - panic buy bread and baked beans:)

Son stuck trying to get to Wembury, Knighton hill impassable!

A few cards are getting down, but it's getting worse with every shower (obviously!).  I've only seen a quad bike get up! Garden looking stunning in the sun.  10cm" even snow coverage in the garden. I think that's pretty typical of the area.

Had a very light covering of snow this morning from a passing shower overnight. Some threatening clouds passing by currently just offshore at around Seaton but nothing for us today in terms of snow.

So far, so disappointing. Great sunshine levels though!

Wonder if those showers to the east have our name on them.

I used to live up there,  had a business there from '99 to 2003, we had a few snowfalls of a couple of inches but nothing on a par with this, was always hoping something like this would happen while I was there, envious is an understatement.

Intefresting times.

I have a commute from Bournemouth to Whiteley and back. Tomorrow might be interesting I think....

Just avoided an ice day in Bournemouth - topped out at 0.4c before dropping back below zero in last few mins.

Here at work looking at the tops of the clouds in the Channel.
