Had a heavy snow shower in Poole for approx 20 mins. Cars, roofs, pavements and grass has a dusting which is now freezing over.

Fantastic update from the metoffice regarding up to 20cm for Thurs. Cant see where all the precip is coming from? Looked on the models in high Res including some high Res models and most are not showing anywhere near the amount forecasted by metoffice?

For example the icon shows light snow not accumulating to much along far southern counties. Gfs not showing much for Thursday at all and redeems itself for Friday. NMM only showing light snow across the south coast Thursday! So im confused.

Unless they have confidence in the gem for Thursday which is brilliant!

Any thought on this anybody?

Regards

My personal opinion based on a blend of 12z model data for Thurs/Fri;

IMG_20180227_181438.thumb.png.6442e478790db117073a572920459d83.png

H = High risk of 10cm+

M = Moderate risk of 10cm+

L = Low risk of 10cm+

Obviously broad brush and very changeable at this range.

What is the situation for snow tonight (hants / Surrey area) ? I can’t seem to find a straightforward answer anywhere online! Even the radio reports go on about it the snow earlier today. Arg!

 I thought tonight / tomo was gonna be a quiet and dry one?

Had a nice heavy shower in Pompey around 2ish that settled well, then another lighter shower getting the ferry back to gosport around 3pm
Told had same heavy shower in Gosport too.
A light covering still remains in the garden in the shadier parts that is slowly disappearing now.

Still a few flakes now and again blowing in the wind.

Isn’t it weird that so cold any snow that falls melts thawed straight away?

That is actually realistic as well Bristol always misses the worst of the snow anyway

The local news weather on ITV just gave an awful forecast. Only the very tip of Cornwall to get snow tomorrow, the rest of the southwest 'might' get some snow Thursday and rain Friday with 7 degrees by Saturday. This is all completely against what I've been seeing all day?

Finally got some snow ? was not expecting that, especially as it was only a shower.

Imagine what later this week could bring
