Getting the distinct feeling that this will be a predominantly snowless period for central southern England. Looks like a few flurries Mon/Tues/Wed, but nothing substantial, and then the low pressure area later in the week passing just too far to the south. Reminds me very much of March 2013 when it was very cold but almost totally dry.

XCweather.thumb.jpeg.3ee39bdf1c93f11b6dd74e108c7fec30.jpegXcweather 0Z. GFS-based I believe. :yahoo:

See where it denotes fog? It has snow attached to that. I think its trying to tell me it'll be a whiteout with zero vis. :D

Interesting set of runs. It's clear which one we're backing. A positive though, all be it some way in the distance still, is the met outlook. Bournemouth Friday, they go for snow at midday sleet then back to snow. That tells me their latest thinking is not for the low to track north. Ukmo at t144 could go north or east or north east. My bet would be more east than north. Just for once please let us have a snow event that does not get washed away within 24 hours. It's looking good but nervous times for a few days.

Are we still thinking possible troughs could happen before Thurs/Fri? Just thinking there’s not much chance for us before then is there? Or is there?

There's every chance of catching a shower or two of snow. Just not enough to meet any warning criteria.

There may be a chance on Tuesday depending on where in the South you are.

Morning all after a cloudy night we have some clearing permitting the sun to shine and present a good start to the day. As the cloud kept the temperature up an overnight low of -2.6C is now rising rapidly currently -0.5C.

Well it's less than a week away now until that possible snowstorm so we can start counting down. I can't imagine what this forum is going to be like if we wake up Friday to whiteout conditions lol, I'm pretty sure the servers will crash.

This weather might have a few tricks up its sleeve. We might get more than we bargained for. Lets see if we have any upgrade for Wednesday next week. I've a feeling ....

Reality is we won’t really know until Sunday evening and even then, radar can prompt short notice warnings. We still in the game imho.
