Now that's a rampable forecast from the ECM

https://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Exeter/long.html

5a90a03e387ca_yr.noexeter.thumb.png.d81b26c93de1f70f6dcc8f47fe7f84a0.png
(It actually shows about 16mm water equivalent Thursday night into Friday)

5 ice days and Friday having a max of -3C with snow. Also -11C next Monday morning.

That's the perfect solution of the low getting close enough to bring a proper snow event, and then backing off to leave a slackening cold air mass.
Not expecting it like that but a nice thought :D

At face value it looks decent but take away the noise and ott amounts it could be quite light and patchy in west country going off that chart...

Im off to bed, Im totally on board now with severe cold but the snow amounts for us concern me still going off past experience.:pardon:

^ That looks great! 18z GFS was another good one for frontal snow until it introduced milder uppers and turned to rain/sleet for parts, hopefully overly progressive. The control will do!

Took its time but finally dropped below freezing about 45 minutes ago. Since then it’s dropped quickly to -1.0°C.

What do you make of this break down by Friday talk? Cold arrives Monday, gone by Friday? Barely registers a cold snap! :D. Seems cold already, so I'm not believing the temps forecast for next week. Surely with that easterly, and those uppers, it will be colder.

That is probably the hook to the song time of the whole event.

The chilliest station report in the UK this morning comes from Lyneham. 05.00:

Temp -4C and dew -5C

... and that made me sound a little like 'isobar'  :nea:Its early morn, and my eyes are also still as blurry as my mind.

Temp here in North Devon this morning is a tropical -0.8c, started the night with a -1.6c but some cloud has come in and warmed us up!!!

Just read through the MAD thread and we seem to be in line for some cracking weather over the next 5-6 days. Bring it on..
