Low pressure lining up, really doesn't get any better than that for down south.

If you like snow then you've got to hope tonights EC Det is correct.  If you are under 30 years old, then you probably won't ever remember seeing so much snow.

Apart from 2010 etc I’ve never seen such snow and I’m 36.. hence the excitement ?

Taking this run at face value, this will beat it.

Heavy, prolonged spells of snow over a 3/4 day period.  At T192, what falls out the sky is still all snow.

I notice how the GFS is looking for a breakdown (isn’t it always?) I believe, going from a post from @SnowBallz last night (if I’m remembering correctly) that the Meto are predominately using ECM and UKMO which are the two models that are seemingly on the right page. They have been on the same page nearly all week, who’s to say they won’t be about this LOW next week!

tuning into Ian now.. see what he’s been told to say tonight ?

A nice bit of convective sparking along with the lows would be great. Thundersnow starved here. Talking of sparks, the static charge in my clothes and hair today was experienced last... in distant memory. It has been so awfully claggy and humid for as long as I can think back through this winter that the shocks were two fold.

A stunning day today.   ..

We need to peg back our excitement I think until at least Monday but still just shy of 1m of snow 2009 is going to be hard to beat.

Going to be a long weekend waiting for the beast proper to start although already pretty chilly. 0.1c

The low moving north into the western Channel at T168 on the ecm would bring moderate snow to the south west and the further east but with max temps around -3C the wind chill would be horrific.
