WOW..!! Heavy snow here on the coast, winds picking up almost blizzard conditions.. The incoming streamer has history of producing lightning..Thundersnow???

Snowing here in Washington - looks like a mini streamer has set up to me eyes?  Great to see it snowing right out to the coast!

It looks like the coast is the place to be for snow. Not often you can say that!

It looks fairly potent that streamer mate so I would be quite optimistic. Heavy snow falling here now setting on surfaces etc

An impressive and lengthy snow shower/storm going on at the moment, the world is white !!

  • Newcastle upon Tyne
  • North Tyneside
  • Northumberland
  • Redcar and Cleveland
  • South Tyneside
  • Stockton-on-Tees
  • Sunderland

Between 10:00 Thu 17th and 10:00 Fri 18th

Sleet and snow showers today then ice during Thursday evening and night.

What to expect

  • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • Probably some ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

Further details

Occasional showers of sleet and snow will affect some eastern parts of England during Thursday, leading to a temporary covering of 1-3 cm of snow in places. Showers will become restricted to immediate coastal districts by evening, before dying out. Icy patches will then form on untreated surfaces.

WE have a nice covering from a 10 t0 15 minutes fall and it is still snowing allbeit somewhat lighter.

Does this warning upgrade our chances for most of the day now then? i thought the only showers we were going to get was the morning then clearing up for rest of the day. 

Could we be in for a nice surprise if these showers keep developing.

Looks like some intensification of showers in the North Sea so some areas could see more.  It's going darker again here and very light flakes falling again.

Again i think Teesside inst best placed when these showers are coming in from a North Easterly direction.

Nothing of note here.
