Sunderland to Tyneside for the next bunch of showers if they maintain.

Winds will shift from an easterly to a ENE and eventually NE through the night, tomorrow could bring snow to any part of NE region, and I'm increasingly now thinking some will edge over the Pennines, given the strength of the wind and direction, would be a bonus to see a snow shower from the NE - but they do occur in the right conditions even this far west - draw a direct line from around Sunderland and we are only about 80 miles as the crow flies..

I am thinking I am 8 mile too for north for these shower.  Should catch the N side of them and more especially the later ones behind the first line of attack

Dew point and temperature still dropping here but still dry. As long as there some snow on the hills to take my daughters sledging that will do me (although enough to build a snowman in the garden would be nice)

Good luck all, of to sleep bloody work in morning

Allow me to recall last year (and why 7cm doesn't seem like much to my boy!). 10 brownie pts for getting the locations right:

I have a feeling that teesiders are going to be very frustrated. How I see it we miss most of these showers tonight and tomorrow and it’s only when the winds come in from north easterlies we get a few. Could be a very frustrating day with the most northern of memebers doing very well.

The buried car is on the road leading up from Cornsay Colliery towards Tow Law, about 500 yards from the pub at Cornsay Colliery. The other one is just starting on the road down to Stanhope from the Pennines just before Crawleyside.

Just shows you - from one small shower it's deposited 1-2cm's if you get stuck under these for a while it soon mounts up.  Good luck everyone.

Steady away here, road going under.

The kids were asking me earlier if they will get to school in the morning. I told them that wouldn't be a problem, then added that the difficulty will be getting home again! Told them they would be stuck there all weekend lol ⛄

More incoming - turning out not a bad night this end.  Don't worry Teesside areas should see their fair share as the night wears on.

I've always much preferred showery snow that frontal.  I can't remember the last time I saw a decent snow depth off one.

I think Teesside will miss out on the majority of showers.

Think everyone in with a chance looking at showers popping up anywhere to east of region

I just know from experience Teesside can be in a funny place when the winds just not right. It’s fine margins make all the difference being in the dip if you like they do tend to fair better for the northern areas.
