Coldest night of winter so far in Darlo wall-to-wall sunshine again but unlikely to get much above 1c today

Here's how the met office see the next 6 days

I seem to recall an 80s winter where it was possible to walk across above the bridge, or at least it looked like you might if *very brave*.
The same year Whitby sub aqua club (are they still going?) Cut holes through the ice at Scaling Dam to try ice diving - it was getting on for a foot thick.
-8.2 here earlier, very slowly creeping up to -6 now.

I would settle for many mornings like this one for the rest of winter, with a bit of snow of course.

Doesn't actually feel that bad outside the strengthening sunshine is certainly helping now. Different story in the shade as you'd expect.

Indeed.

Was actually a bit surprised as it honestly doesn't feel that cold outside in the sunshine

My VP2 says +2.1C but I'm sceptical as low sun can warm the louvred enclosure.
It had a fan system fitted but it packed up after a year and only rarely made any difference.
-8.2C first thing

I'm getting 0.2c in the shade

It's a fabulous day today with crystal clear skies as shown below with this plane at 30,000ft

I walked up to Aldi and Lidl this morning and it felt fine on the sunny side of Yarm Road

It's pleasant at times but raw others.  Snow warning from 6pm this evening as the Meto predict showers forming and pushing inland.  Mixture of rain / sleet / snow but as is the case with these set ups nowcasting will play a part.  Good luck everyone lets feed on the showery scraps that are being thrown under the table to us

I think it will be snow in land 850s and DPs are in our favour maybe sleet on the coast

That's what I was thinking but didn't want to jinx it.  I'm trying to be less enthusiastic as a reverse psychology thing but we'll see.  I don't think they're forecast to deliver much but you never know.  If the likes of our coastal members report snow then it'll probably be snow everywhere.

Shower activity certainly making more inroads now but mainly Northumberland as the target (albeit very light at the moment).

In comparison things do look marginal during the day but nights give ample opportunity. Tuesday just gone things looked much worse as thicknesses, dew point and 850’s were too high with the synoptic pattern
