Ideal for making some nice early hay - have first field cut and will do more after tomorrow.
Much cheaper than having to wrap most of it like last year.

Fake rain here, it's gone quite gloomy and can just feel a hint of drizzle.
Lowest overnight was 16.1C, it will drop lower through the day though.

Contractors in yesterday with fascinating baler/wrapper. (v.expensive)
Several more fields of proper hay to do through next week - first one is nearly there already.

Perfect weather, what a change to last year when it all went wrong after two hot days mid-June.

It is turning into probably the best haymaking season since 1976.
The first field cut was spread just once and is almost dry enough to bale as hay two days later.
That's the sort of result you might expect in the American mid-west.

Humidity is low, we have sun and wind for longest days possible, and ground is bone dry underneath - perfect baking conditions.
The drawback is that yields are reduce but not dramatically so and that's partly a trade off from relatiely early cutting.

Strange just how late the mist/fog arrived as well it didn't arrive until after dawn seemed to arrive as quickly as it left

Temp fell noticeably this evening as the north sea yet again showed itself. Currently 13 while a lot of the country basks in low 20's.

I'd fill it in if I could!

Still the warmest air temp day here was in April I believe.   The positioning of the HP has been a terrible for the NE.  When will it end?

This is the HP we need in Winter, not summer.  We need one sat to the SW.

Just now its cloudy and cold in comparison to most of the UK.

Your right, its well and truly here now.  We can complain a little when the rest of the country is basking in 30 degrees heat lol.

As you say though its been great and looks like there is more nice weather on the way.
