I think the east side will have to wait for the more 'changeable' westerly flow later next week for real improvement.
The fog fest seems to be running out of steam a bit compared to the past several days though.
Temperatures struggling below 15C is poor for well into June.

Hopefully get to see a storm before i go to centre parks on monday.

Been decent here in aycliffe past few days and warm in sun, a cool down likely next week for most apart from the east coast... just normal june affair.

Yellow warning for strong winds issued

Between 03:00 Thu 14th and 15:00 Thu 14th

A spell of very windy weather is expected on Thursday with gusts of 50 to 60 mph likely.

  • Darlington
  • Durham
  • Gateshead
  • Hartlepool
  • Middlesbrough
  • Newcastle upon Tyne
  • North Tyneside
  • Northumberland
  • Redcar and Cleveland
  • South Tyneside
  • Stockton-on-Tees
  • Sunderland

What to expect

  • There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
  • There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs
  • There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
  • There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris

Further details

A very windy spell will develop during Wednesday night in association with a deep area of low pressure. The strongest winds will reach the west coast during the early hours of Thursday before spreading eastwards during the day. Westerly winds are likely to gust between 50 and 60 mph in many areas and possibly around 70 mph in some exposed locations. Winds should gradually ease from the west during Thursday afternoon. In addition, a spell of heavy rain will accompany the wind with the highest rainfall totals over parts of western Scotland.

It's my fault, I splashed out on some rattan furniture for the decking with all this nice weather we've had. I knew it would turn the minute I set it up!

Between 03:00 Thu 14th and 15:00 Thu 14th

Storm Hector will bring a spell of very windy weather on Thursday with gusts of 50 to 60 mph likely.

What to expect

  • There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
  • There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.
  • Disruption to outdoor activities is also likely, with damage to tents, marquees and other temporary structures.

Further details

A very windy spell will develop during Wednesday night in association with a deep area of low pressure, now named Storm Hector. The strongest winds will reach Northern Ireland during the early hours of Thursday before spreading eastwards across other northern parts of the UK during the morning. Within the warning area, the greatest potential for disruption is likely to be in northern parts of Northern Ireland around rush hour on Thursday and later in the morning across southern and central parts of Scotland. It is possible that Amber warnings may be issued for some areas later on Wednesday or early on Thursday if this risk increases further.

Quite a rough day for the middle of June today.

Strange to see so many fresh green leaves lying around.

It was a very extreme drying weather despite the few spots of rain first thing.
We really could do with the showers tomorrow.
Does look like a chance they will be thundery so some places could get a lot.

It was very intense but over in ten minutes with only about 2mm here.
Chilly at sunrise just 3C so probably ground frost in valley bottoms.

Looks like this is on the table, could be the hottest spell of the summer so far. High pressure dominated, no easterly to spoil it for us this time around.
