There is an intensity to the showers now, may not last long, but will pack a punch if you hit them :)

I am actually really impressed at how extensive these snow/hail showers have been all day today.

To be honest looking back at radar i would say we have had most of the heavier snow showers so far along with south yorkshire which makes we think, if tonight continues then a little of me wonders why no amber warning has been extended to cover parts of our region?

Had a big flash of lightning about 20 minutes ago as well as some quite large hail

Found myself in the dry spot between two shower bands at the moment.

The meto called this right in my opinion. Yes we are getting heavy showers but nothing prolonged enough to cause significant disruption.

They are looking much more banded together and if your under these now heavy snow showers for the rest of the night (if they continue) then some significant accumulations likely.

I see no difference yet between showers over the NE to showers over South Yorkshire... In my opinion.

The amber only came into effect from 4pm i think. So not including what we have seen up untill then

The showers are supposed to be at their heaviest in the early hours if i have understood correctly. Looks like a streamer setting up over newcastle area?

I was just about to ask if anyone has seen any lightning as the last few showers that have hit here have been very heavy..!!

Alls white and it feels like January 70's style out there..!!

We drove down to the beach earlier and the waves are tremendous, couldn't hardly see the piers with the waves crashing over them. I did get out and took a short video as the wind was whipping up the sand and you were instantly  'sand-blasted'..!!

Just need some proper snow rather than these snow grains as its getting blown all over and not sticking

Ironically the roads and pavements were wet/damp off the earlier melted showers which has enabled the last few showers to stick and not get blown into catchment areas..

Still plenty of showers being generated over the North Sea.
