At best it's snizzle/drizzle. Either the radar's not working or the sky isn't. :D

According to the radar we are getting sleet....and we are with the odd flakey bit. Or perhaps the wind is blowing the sleet around. Either way the ground is so water logged it is going to take some serious drop in temp to get it to lie.

Proper snow here now, very light mind and looking at radar nothing much on the way.

As forecast it is the east facing hills of pennines getting the heaviest snow.

Finally we have wet snow ground still very saturated though, we need a clear spell to freeze the ground and looking at the radar we may get it

Snowing in Leeds, apparently.

Looking at it, my thoughts for my Manchester trip are:

The main snow tonight has almost cleared the A66. Looks like slow traffic, but still open.

Snow due to hit M62 now and later.

Snow tomorrow, at least the main stuff, should be around 12 onwards around Leeds-Hull-M62.

So if I head down the A1 and the A66 is open, I might as well cross the Pennines there, rather than risk travelling down into the most prone part. From there I can head down the M6 and that should be trouble free.

If the A66 is closed, I'll just get to Leeds asap and hope.

Nothing incoming from the north sea could the colder than average sea temperatures be an issue

Still over 2 degrees here DP has come down though currently 0.3c, right off to kip as I said yesterday not expecting much from this cold snap, ground too wet and ground temps too high, we may get (lower ground) 1/2 cm tomorrow night but with the strength of the Sun gone by midday, YAMAS

Keep the faith, you'll get plenty through Saturday. Beast 1 started on the Tuesday with a bit of wet snow then look what happened from then onwards.

Snow grains blowing about in the wind in Stockton. Nothing severe as of yet. Bloody Baltic out there though.

Likewise in Northumberland, light snow powdery type that's lying and not melting off. Ground has dried up significantly which is a positive. Showers in North sea are building its like deja vu this.

The satellite picking up on some much heavier showers in the north sea, icicles forming on my garden tap in mid March astounding

It's a live picture so represents what is actually there. The app is a Europe wide radar so allows you can see out into North sea.
