Just watched Look North weather with Paul Mooney. The graphics he ran clearly showed a streamer running straight over Newcastle for about 5 hours tonight. Didn't catch the start time but think around 11. Stand to be corrected by someone who didn't have the wife talking to them at the same time?

A night full of snow showers for most of us tonight. These becoming more frequent for a time and aligning into bands during the night.

Wind stronger so these showers passing by quicker.

Friday night looks okay for persistant snow.

Another band following into weekend which will produce more snow.

Should stay in colder air too

After a break of a few hours as winds turned ESE a shift back to ENE has brought the snow showers back to Cumbria.

Currently its -5.7c and heavy snow, that's a rare combination especially on the eve of spring!

Snow Depth 15cms.

Well that was an interesting 14hr shift with horrendous driving both their and back mainly by slow drivers trebling the driving time and trebling the chance of getting caught in a real blizzard. And don't get me started on how to take hills. Had to dig my way back into the village though ?

Was digging way back into drive when a nice snow plough chucked an extra 100 kg of wet snow onto my drive. Where were you at 5am when I had to dig my way onto the A692 for work, grrr.

And relax.... Till 430am

I thought tonight we were in a straight easterly flow looking at the radar for the south of the region it looks like a southerly flow moving up from Yorkshire/humber
