The main roads are ok including A591 though it was blocked first thing, minor roads not so good. High Borrans is preety remote up a single lane track, so unless snowlplough or farmer clears it, might be a struggle especially if we have further snow showers overnight - the main hazard now is ice, roads are going to become ice rinks..

Thanks. Could be the weekend then at this rate. I'd rather they stayed there and were safe. They'll be happy enough, homesickness notwithstanding.

Long shower band about to make landfall by me.  After that though there is not a lot happening out at sea

I noticed that but it's coinciding with the change in wind direction.  I think once it becomes established again they'll sharp pep up.  Our amber warning is until 6pm tomorrow so all to play for.

@NL  That shower off the east coast has your name written all over it!  Here's hoping it keeps in intensity.

Will catch part of it ( I can see it coming in) Not very wide and as J-man mentioned the direction does have a slight ENE.

Made it back from Jesmond but the roads were becoming pretty icy and snowy with snow drifting across the road, whilst in Jesmond area had a vivid flash of lightning and a big clap of thunder around 4 pm.

Looking at the radar too I can see more starting to build way out over the NS.

Driving conditions have been shocking everytime I've left the house today, I'm hibernating now. Everyone thought I was mad last week when I stocked up on everything, not so mad now though when I don't have to leave the house and they do ?

Another pic from ploughing in Hepscott (near Morpeth) today.  Apparently the road is blocked again, so more ploughing tomorrow

Ukmo Keeps the cold going albeit not the severe cold we have now

Yeah a steady rise in temps from around Sunday should get around 5c instead of subzero meaning rain on low ground during the day instead of snow

I suppose if we get the rain the snow won’t stay but if we manage to miss it along with cold nights the lying snow may stay well into next week.
