What an amazing day. Heavy snow continued in Whitley bay. Best spell of weather since 2010 in my opinion.

Look how cold it is at a coastal location at this time of day... and it' nearly March!!! Looks like more to come overnight.

Things looking more promising down here now...shower incoming and wind gusting.

I'm hoping its getting worse by the time I get back from Ripon later, a boring day of looking  bright blue skys and melting snow.

Sure am mate

This was happening over and over last night

I could imagine that happening like.  It's a wonder they haven't kept in top of it being a main route out of the city to the likes of Wallsend etc

At a guess,  bulk of that will go through sunderland and the smaller tail section through seaham.   Then probably up above consett.  All depends on the wind.

I rang the council around 10pm asking if they could pass a message to gritting as we hadn't seen one go past all day. Their reply was they don't do gritting anymore, it's a private company who can only be reached 9-5. I was waiting for the first car to be embedded in our building!

From memory this exceeds 2010 in terms of snow depth in amble.

You're kidding me right??  That's unbelievable mate, it's like the main drag down to the Quayside and into the city centre?  or out of it that's bad.

It’s a shame the wind direction is just not in favour of us here and Darlington.

Thought you lived in Stockton, but yeah the current wind direction is terrible for us the showers need to pass over the NY moors to get here so lose intensity

 read it wrong

I know mate - I was absolutely gobsmacked! Saw a gritter go past late morning today and there hasn't  been once since. It's the main route to the Tyne Bridge this road.
