The showers have not really stopped all day here, but been very light or very short if heavier.  Still waiting for a prolonged shower with blizzard.

Things starting to look very good on the radar for Newcastle now.  Two big showers incoming looking like it will be a direct hit.  Perfect for the rush hour

The next showers seem aligned more north-south rather than the east-west streamers from this morning.

incoming juice alert for central / southern areas :friends:

Is it me or do the showers look more east to west aligned now?  Rather than SSE/SE?

With the wind a bit more to SE today showers have become less severe, but when we get one it is dramatic.
Looks like being a high of -2.6C just before 1pm
Wind is gusty and causing considerable drifting.
There's maybe 6-8" of powdery snow.

Looking at the satellite images on SAT24, you can actually make out a distinct narrow band of more intense cloud that looks like a band or streamer headed in roughly the direction of the North East, poss Tyneside, maybe due in about an hour? Have a look, what do you think?

Looks great for Newcastle soon.

When will the winds turn more Easterly? This is what those of us from Durham south need.

The most impressive part of today is the Dew Point. currently at -6.2. It's now -3.2. One colleague on mine who live near Gateshead says his Dew Point was at -8 this morning

Snow in the central belt of Scotland is falling at a rate of around 5cm per hour currently no wonder they have a red warning!
