Leaving Ponteland in about an hour to try to get to TESCO and then to The Nuffield in Jesmond for my wife's physio, should be an interesting and hairy journey, wish me luck.

Good luck.  Looking like some showers will be hitting Newcastle in the next few hours, starting from 30mins.  No streamer though...yet

On its way I think.

That streamer in Northumberland hitting Alnwick is just immense.  Several hours of blizzards there without let up

If you run the radar it is moving SLIGHTLY northward too, so won't give a clear run to any one location. Still big snow, though!

I'm still holding out hope for this afternoon onwards, from what I can see (untrained eye but ever optimistic) on the satellite the showers push further south later.

Yeah looking at the satellite this is lull before more showers get going for us

My daughter is off to High Borrans near windermere Monday to Wednesday next week. Hopefully it will be clear enough in the west not disrupt their outdoor activities too much. Sending her with thermals though! Will the snow get as far as Cumbria?

Well she's got a bonus day, they're not leaving!

Lets hope the sun doesn't get to work like it did yesterday.

If it does expect a lot of ice as unlike yesterday its below freezing

The scene here in Seghill us something I haven't witnessed for years. Gale force winds, and constant blizzards. If this lasts the rest of the day I think it will eclipse 2010.

South Shields have just been on the outer edges of the showers with mostly light snow this morning and the sun had been out quite awhile with no snow melt at all, even the snow on the fence (east facing in direct sunshine)..!! So alpine conditions out there today..

Well it's been chaos here this morning, the roads are a mess and I think barring my youngest 2s school every school is closed. Big 3 are happy with a snow day at home and the youngest 2 are currently running riot on the school field with their friends. It's still -1 and the snow is so deep the dog got stuck ? she also appears to be a snow magnet as came in with snow balls all over her

You can't fool us! That's clearly a picture of Tow Law in the long hot summer of 2003.
