The northward drift is going to deny me that massive clump! But should be good for the toon.

not sure if its moving north much - showers look to move direct east?

They are... but the trough/intensity is moving north... that's why the strongest cells were further south a couple of hours ago.

kink in the upper level winds (and associated increase in gusts) means most the showers should come from the ESE for much of today, after moving from NE-ENE over the last 24 hours.

by this evening it’s likely to have straightened out towards a E flow once more but expect the best of the showers to affect the north of the region until then

so far newcastle has been in a channel between two streamers and i don't see movement of the bigger blob to the south coming north. however hopeful, as its been pretty dry for newcastle so far.

Haven't got the big snow totals as some in the North East but still measured 10cms+ on the lawn with more to come.

Very cold too at -5c so a morning doesn't get more wintry than this!

Definitely a snow day today.

there’s that kink that explains why the showers will spend the majority of the day moving with a slight northwards trajectory. not usually the best for our region, but with -15c 850s across the sea, everyone can expect a little something

Follow back on the radar that big blob to the east of CLS now and you'll see how it's moved northwards.

Starting to get clipped by some heavier showers now.  The wind has changed direction.  At Last.   Impressive blowing snow.

Is that big blob out in the North Sea moving towards the coast? It seems like its hardly moved since I looked last night.

Definite streamers setting up now.  I just need them to shift either south or north.  About 1cm fallen here overnightimage.thumb.png.96cb166e9527e7d93abf782226206828.png

Wow! Just had another 2cms from current shower with very limited visibility, it doesn't get any better than this!

See the streamer above us.  Morpeth is under that and has had about 5" overnight.  Was supposed to be taking my cat to the vets there this morning.  Think I will cancel
