Really it shouldn't be

Looking at the Scottish coastline it looks like the coastline is marginal before it turns to snow away from coast so could be a worry to anyone on the seafronts, although it's a couple of degrees colder here.

So so sorry that you had to say good bye to buster. It's horrible....really horrible. Hold tight to the snow memories.

My 7 month puppy is at my feet. He has long shaggy fur and so far this winter I have learnt that he gets huge  ice balls on his paws. So I took a chance and ordered the extra large dog boots from Amazon...These are supposed to be for giant breeds........far to small. ?

Looks good in Northumberland!

But the intensity is really dying off on the radar on the blob over Newc-Sund-Dur.

Starting to pep up again in Stockton after a brief lull. Wonder if this is the main band and will be heavier? Have to say I'm surprised how wet and sticky the snow has been so far thought it was meant to be powdery? Still plenty of time for that I think the snow will be around for at least a week.

What we've got now is it. It's moving SWS, or SSW at best. So the best of it is north of Morpeth. The rest of us have what we've got now, that is losing intensity, and any showers that we can see beyond it.

You can see it sinking south / southwest  and pepping up again behind. This is far from a done deal I think.....

Yes, the more showery stuff behind is looking more resilient than the main stuff we've got at the moment.

Temps dropping and as PM says more popping up behind the main band

Much better intensity in Stockton now. Would give it a 6/10. Even the well gritted roads and pavements around work are starting to whiten.

Well I've had a nice couple of hours watching the snow, very relaxing I find. Got a decent covering in place, enough to cover the grass and blend the boundary of the paths.

Looking at the radar there seems to be plenty more fun and games to be had from this system before we turn our attention to the North Sea snow machine.

Good luck everyone for the rest of the night, I better get some sleep I need to be up early to update the school website should we be closing.

Flakes getting bigger.

Same here, the intense stuff just hitting near Consett. You can see from the latest radar the snow maker in action out to sea.

Winds really picking up now as the isobars getting squeezed.

Intensity building to my NW, but reckon it'll just miss Durham.

You right between the two more intense areas?

Noticed there has been another strike in Scotland.
