Certainly is A lot heavier in last 20 min. Only had 1cm from the grainy stuff but that's doubled now the fluffier stuff has moved inland. Not sure why bbc said 4am for the event to start.

Yes, it's picked up to moderate snow now. Nowhere is yet seeing heavy snow from the looks of it, but a few hours of this sort of strength ppn will leave a few inches. Hard to tell what the system will do. Looks slightly more southerly in track than earlier I think, but probably not enough for the main lot to hit south or around Morpeth imo.

Well the beast from the east has started off like a beast. If this is what to expect all week we’re in business. Pavements and roads already thick with snow and it’s not even the main warning.

Is this the main band that the met office put out amber for?

I reckon the heaviest falls are yet to come looking at the radar

A bit of a concern for me is the precipitation further north in the heavier band is showing as sleet on the radar

Looks about right for the original snaked band but the intensity is picking up around the centre of the low so more south of Morpeth should get some intense stuff looking at the wind vectors.

The gritted road outside has turned white. In fact all white except tips of grass in the garden. Reckon we have an inch. It's very wet snow mind.

On the radar,  Certainly the yellow will hit us.

Had to say good night to my rock and snow buddy last week, RIP Buster at the Grand age of nearly 13.  This was him just before New Year enjoying his last real snow event.

Have to thank him for the 12 years we've both shared in snowy Dipton together.

I think he's had Words with the snow Gods though as the night he passed I'd like to think he arranged the pasting I had, alongside the one 2 days later and then 2 days after again, so I'm quite hopeful he will deliver a stonker ?

P80206-112629.jpg

The morning after sent to cheer me up, and then 2 days later.

P80209-101629.jpg

And then again 2 days after.

Thanks Buster, my snow angel ⛄?

I'm renaming this beast.
