Really, wet pavements? I thought the snow would settle instantly on all surfaces? Giving its dry snow and look an okay enough intensity.

Yep the grass is fairly white but a lot of pavement is still just looking wet. This pic is literally my view right now

been snowing for over an hour now here and is settling - it is also starting to get a bit heavier - although I would not call it heavy  yet 5/10

Just had a quick test the snow is actually quite wet. Made a snowball no bother.

Definitely a good start to this weeks event. A nice solid cold blanket over the frozen ground. Hopefully the mole that appeared on my lawn today will do one seeing this.

By Midnight it should start to get pretty heavy looking at the Radar. Large pool of darker red behind looking bang on for Newcastle and Wearside. Glad I'm off work all this week!!!!

Maybe as Boro Snow says, the sun must of warmed the ground temps up but going by that photo, it's starting to settle on the ground now and Tyneside should see a good covering by morning time.

The uppers are slightly milder with this feature(around -8 or so) but fancy the snow to be drier tomorrow when the -12 uppers roll back in with lots of instability.

Sure it wasn't the ground hog day animal. Yeah I know that day in the states has been and gone.

Pavements and untreated roads are all white here.

This side of the street gets the sun until around tea time, so that's probably right as it was surprisingly warm in the sun today. It's covered over a lot more now

It took a while to start settling on the roads and pavements at Marsden judging by Neil Bradshaw's webcam, but it's all white there now:

A wide swathe to see the more intense stuff looking at the current track. The moisture wrapped around the centre of the low which was at -6c (green) will mean it should be slightly stickier and fluffier stuff which just piles up.

Is this the main band that the met office put out amber for?

I reckon the heaviest falls are yet to come looking at the radar
