Looking very interesting,  this band ahead of the main low was not forecast by any model as far as I know looks like it is intensifying,  nice little surprise. The main band is still developing so very hard to tell where the must intence precipitation will end up.

You're right it suddenly appeared ahead of the snaked band about 2hrs ago. I'm not sure that the system will continue on its westerly track as the elbow of the track seems to move at a similar pace to the snaked band so may hit further south of the region.

Latest below, definitely intensified.

10mm equals 10cm roughly.

Under normal conditions.  This should be more powdery snow so the ratio goes up

First flakes starting now. I think the header band could be enough to give a covering before the main band arrives

Phew. Do you think the main band will deliver for us too or just the North of the region?

The intensity in your area is so weak you wouldnt see much, give it 20 mins it should change by then.

I think it will deliver to the whole region, obviously some will do better than others but the low is looking very active, could be a classic night for the northeast

The low system is clearly seen below with the more intense stuff a couple of hours away I would think, but the system is encouraging much needed instability.
