My one concern is that the low on Tuesday, after many runs with it hitting us, ends up going further south or north.

Nick,

I don't think there is anything to worry about . If there had been consistent signs of it going South, or consistent signs of it going North, I could understand your anguish( to an extent). But as there has been no consistency, no real problem.

Things this week are going to spring up without notice, I am convinced of that, there seems to be a fair amount of instability in the atmosphere, and this could self-generate even more as the week goes on, so no concerns from me regarding that particular feature.

Cheers, guys!

And as with you, my warnings have fallen on deaf ears.

Bit of a shame my weather station chose today to conk out!

Ordered a cheap max/min digital external thermometer from Prime. No money for a major replacement.

With this memorable cold spell nearly upon us...

1. would be nice to know peoples locations?

2. If you use twitter, would be great to follow everyone.

3. Take pictures, plenty pictures for everyone to see... More so to be smug and let the people who don't see snow look at what they missing lol. (less than 5% of population as it stands)

4. Obviously some people prefer to be more private on here, so no worries for those who want that :D

Tricky one, with majority coming in the form of showers, where these align could produce large accumulations while others see much less.

2 points:

1) there are some more mild sectors in this run, though mainly FI

2) we are now being consistently modelled as getting over half a metre of snow by the end of the week.

Point 1. not a bad thing, could indicate potential for more snow events due to warmer air bumping in to very cold are in stitu.

Point 2. Some places on eastern faces of pennines could well manage that and drifts higher.

As for twitter, no worries matey.

Consett, Tow Law... they could get up to a metre if the get hit by the main snow bands. They'll be cut off, no doubt.

Newcastle mate, 130m altitude. Expecting 30cm here by next weekend, hopefully.

My location is Gateshead but right at the top of the hill, or up in the mountains as my dad says.

Nothing wrong with lurking, sometimes it's best to sit in silence... the more opinionated you are the more likely you are to be shot down in here sometimes lol

I am 90m asl, however altitude won't affect your snow chances this time... however, higher ground always gets more snow regardless most of the time

Especially if, like me, you play the role of permanent pessimistic misery guts. :p

Won't affect snow chances whatsoever. But it could have a very slight impact on accumulations.
