Have you knocked your heating off yet?

Around September/October we normally get a thread on people turning the heating on, but what about knocking it off.

With glorious sunshine temperatures and maxima in the late single figures/early double digits you'd be inclined to forego the heating on a day like today. Anybody done so and do you expect to need to turn it back on soon?

I wish! I'm running low on wood and still have around another 3 months of wood burning left.

If I don't light the fire, the house will drop to around 10-13c and that's with thick walls, double glazing and good loft insulation.

Early May is usually when I can close the wood burner doors for the last time.

PS: Its 6c here with cloudy skies today

The only months i don't have heating on at all are July and August, can't sit in a room below 18c.

Bleeding heck, I can barely stomach a room above 18c.

Well usually 1 hour in morning and two hours at night (oil fired) then log burner in evening , but have to  admit to extending morning heat by 2 -3 hours over cold periods recently.  Log burner also in very cold periods runs all day, mainly weekends.  Mostly I work with elderly people during week their houses are Boiling - wearing layers is good, take layers off in boiling house, add them back at home.  Husband works from home , anathema to extend heating, wears vests, t shirts, jumpers, hat and gloves rather than switch heating on.  Good job I knit!  House built of slate walls, single glaze sash windows, in Wales, go figure!

Not a chance. Heating has been on every day and I can't see that not being the case anytime soon.

As I live in a flat with storage heaters (never been on in 4 years) my portable Calor Gas heater is my god.

Still going strong here on 1 bar but not more than an 1 hr in the morning and during the evening after work.

Always loved a cold bedroom- lowest it got down to was 7.2c in December! Perhaps that’s why I’m divorced :)

Heating on for half an hour in the morning, then woodburner  in the evening. Also have a small open fire in the dining room.  Will probably have to get another load of logs  to see us out.
