The beast* thing about this run thus far is the eastern side of the high isn't being sucked down towards Asia and keep the tap of the coldest uppers on flow for longer

* meant best but beast works ?

Some would assume, im watching the most 'emotional ever' movie unfold...

But i'd have great difficulty explaining otherwise...why i have tears in my eyes!! ??????

I've never wanted to hear from Ian Brown more than I do right now..

IF that cold pool was that cold, it'd be historic. Probably record breaking for the time of year?

Everyone who said it’s a shame this wasn’t two / three weeks earlier is dead right

I mean we could have held the Winter Olympics

Another stonking run from the GFS 18z. Only minor differences with the 12z and maybe even a slight upgrade on the previous run, with uppers of -16 making even further inroads into Southern England in just over a week's time.

I was going to start the search for the first run to get the -16c isotherm cleanly into the UK. The the GFS just bends the winds slightly south of east which allows the coldest air to simply hop across the Dover  strait and land in southern England without being moderated.

On an entirely imby level could do with the -14 to -17 uppers being just a tad further north. With it being an easterly wind powder snow would be preferred for large accumulations on the west coast.

No chart available for the selected hour. Many charts start at 3 hours ahead, so if you have 0 hours selected try stepping forward or selecting a later hour.

Always think the GFS 2m tends to overdo the cold a bit though?

The North Sea is at its coldest at this time of year...charts for Monday show only - 1 on the coast  can't see the beast in that just yet..hope you are all right

Quite extraordinary charts, ridging over Greenland and Scandinavia with subzero temps we haven't seen for over 30 years, I believe that's 1986. Could even be as cold as 1981. Wow, after all these years of disappointment we may be on the verge of another memorable winter. Exciting chart watching over the next few days.
