Not sure what is less likely, the stalling of the upper low over Poland or the 1060mb high over n Sweden !

So I suspected the cold arrival could be brought forward but had mixed feelings about that after the GFS 00z compared to the slower but steadier ECM and UKMO.

The GFS 06z is however showing us that if you get a good wedge of higher heights extending N from the UK, the cold feed can be directed back further S even with the continental LP having had more time to develop than in the slower scenarios.

If the 06z can hold steady we’ll have both a faster and a slower route that both result in a lengthy spell of deep cold. Not a bad way to start your Sunday if like me it’s your lie-in day :)

PV starting to make the journey east over the high now, so retrogression of the high to Greenland is incoming.

Morning folks. Been following this forum for many a year and this is the most excitement I’ve seen from even the most knowledgeable posters. Over the last couple of days there’s just been upgrade after upgrade with each run; something tells me that we may actually finally hit the jackpot. May we all get our snow fix. Bring it on!!!

Outstanding 06z GFS, that upper high is nearly perfectly placed on the 06z GFS and the shape is just unreal. Close to perfection!

Miles better then the 00z GFS,night and day. (though as has been said, the 00z GFS is still in its own right a pretty good run!)

Wonder what the ensembles will suggest..

Wow. Speechless again. Pretty much perfection from a cold and snow perspective. Hope the GEFS continue their downward trend from the last 3/4 runs
