BBC going with some snow tonight early morning for south east, however they fancy norwich upto Scotland having the most this week! 5-10cm South East 15-20cm further north! So will they be right???

It is the longer sea track that is better for them and the fact it is not as sensitive to wind direction changes.

Is it all off then?? I’ve been away all weekend, just got home after leaving husband a list of preparations to make. He’s been out and got logs, candles, wrapped the outside taps up and now I’ve got to tell him it’s not happening??? I was looking forward to sitting down to watch the radar now and being snowed in in the morning??? Please tell me we are still getting some snow! My kids may never speak to me again. ??

As it's showers and streamers the only way you will get an answer to your question is to radar watch i'm afraid. Though you are under an amber warning so chances are good.

Temperature beginning to dive now in Dover. Fluctuations between 2.5-3.1 for the last hour. Now at 2.0 and continuing to fall.

Yes,looking like a bit of a non event for most of the region now, amazing changes in forecast over the last day. Shame really. Maybe it was being too hyped for too long anyway.

Come on, that's just not true. Much of Kent, Essex and Sussex is in for a battering, SE London should get a fair bit and most other areas will at least see showers.

EDIT -  check out the video posted by Yamkin, above.

The latest met office forecast has some snow showers arriving into SE corner from around 8pm.

indeed, there's a lot of showers west of Amsterdam which are heading SW and are likely to intensify - landfall around 8pm looks about right for the south east corner

ukmo says all snow blizzards for Friday :yahoo:

The 0c line is to our north late Friday - will start as snow and then switch to rain looking at that. It will likely change anyway and uppers for tomorrow - Thurs look a little colder.

I'm really hoping to have a dusting/slight covering by morning before things really get going.

I was thinking the same, the UKMO at 120 has positive 850hpa across the south. I can’t see that producing a lot of snow here.

Saw that before I left for the gym. Unexpected surprises and all that.

Really raw in that wind down by the coast at the moment.

Yeah, probably the Thames will be the natural divide between higher and lower totals, to the north of the Thames and your probably going to be needing unexpected troughs to get much in the way, to the south and its going to depend on the exact variation.

Also worth saying those that aren't too far from the coast along the east coast will probably do very nicely as well.

That 12z is pretty much the outcome that Mogreps has been giving by all accounts.

Indeed! I guess it’s encouraging that it’s 2-10cm and not 0-10cm

Does look like it may JUST be the wrong side of marginal on the UKMO. The GFS also has a snow-rain event with possibly freezing rain away from coasts.

Still there is time for the tiny changes required to make that first front all snow...afterwards does look like a breakdown though.

i think they're being conservative . . . the convection factor is an unknown quantity and the instability fueled by the warm N Sea could help to promote some quite beefy snow showers.

Here's hoping :)

I still believe it will correct south and stand by my original track prediction. If the low passes just south of the Channel Islands and then heads ENE through the Cherbourg Peninsular, we’ll all be happy!

Just been out for a lovely walk. Nice and fresh and brilliant sunshine. It’s surreal thinking it’s the calm before the storm. ❄️❄️❄️?
