Will be interesting to see how far inland the showers are driven (and where tbh) I'm about an hour from the coast (either N or E, take your pick) and I do wonder whether they will manage Norwich! I'll decide on Tuesday morning whether to drive into deepest Suffolk. In the meantime cold and dry suits me fine.

Yeah it's tricky from anyone further north and west in our region. I think there is a fair chance of streamers setting up which could benefit west / north-west London up into Bucks and Herts if the winds swings ESE. Think Feb 09.

It's a case of nowcasting and radar watching for the next week for sure.

Erm and lamp post watching :friends:

Of course!! I need to rely on others for that... No lamp-post here, but might have to invest in some outdoor lights now it's nailed on for cold!

So things still to get;

Highly concentrated screenwash, going to need it to resist the cold and not freeze over.

A shovel - To dig myself out of the drive

A ruler - To measure my snow, maybe a metre ruler (Just in case 30cm isn't enought :D)

I hope you are right but being 50 miles south of you on the A1 I am just not feeling confident of any decent snow from convection. Maybe frontal snow from the south on Friday it might be different. But then I look at the 1991 forecasts and think maybe we will do well....any way not long to find out ?

Travelling by back from Scottish highlands early doors tomorrow, I’m very impatient to see if any snow falls in reasonable levels (over 3”?!) next week for the Hastings coastal area. It’s been a fabulous week in the snow here and would like to see a continuation of the theme!

A pic from a spectacular day on the Nevis range!

Anyone remember the old snow depth battles we used to have on here ??

Considering how many potential days of snow we have in front of us there should be enough to enable a few elimination rounds !

I dont mind helping organise if anyone is interested for next week :)

yes i recall the snow cup ... being in London with a very low altitude i was never going to lift the cup (only my wine glass) but the banter was hilarious

But haven't mid Essex already done well in December etc we'e not had any in 5 years. The thing with your location is you can still do ok from Northerlies unlike south of Essex and my part of NW kent

Yes we did well in December, but Northerlies are useless for us generally. The more Northerly component to the flow the less likely we'll be in the firing line.

Here in NW Kent and SE London too and probably far S essex too we've been so unfortunate this winter just the wrong side of marginal on numerous occasions. Medway to out east has had a little snow. 10 miles north and south of here have had a couple of half decent snowfalls December- now. I was going to call this the ultimate Sleetfest winter 2017/18! Let's hope this all changes.

Tbh for once I'm actually thinking I could be in a prime location in my Thames view apartment just south of the river as in Dec 2010 the villages up the road from here had the most snowfall from the famous 2.5 day streamer. And 2009 we also did very well. I might have to stand by the river cheerleading the beast?Bring it on!!

I find it fascinating that 3 miles away will see snow and we won't?

I'm pretty sure you'll be ok, when the flow is coming from SE (very short sea track) it may be tough, but the flow is going to bounce around up to NE and back as the cold gets deeper, when it favours you more ( E-NE ) they'll be big and you'll get the Estuary's best.

I'll send them down the coast.
