BBC at it again. Only snow flurries according to their Sunday to Tuesday outlook. More emphasis on sunshine and no mention of possible significant accumulations, unlike the metoffice outlook for the same period.

I'm in Southend and am confident that you'll get a good 6 inches

I’d be happy with 6 inches, nothing too painful but still lots of fun

I'm starting to learn now that the human interaction with these forecasts is nil.

As has been said before, the text forecast from actual professional forecasters (and the uber experienced members on here) are far better at giving us the correct picture.

Indeed. I just think it's poor of them. Maybe they will be correct but there is a clear risk that they are failing to mention on there website where a lot of people will get their weather info from.

I should say they do have the met office warnings on there but think that just makes it more confusing for Joe public as their forecast contradicts it.

The way I’m reading the forecasts is it’s going to be very cold with ice days likely, so any snow will easily settle and frosts will not melt. Though how much snow will fall is still uncertain. Areas to the E of our region look best placed for initial accumulations, then more widely if there’s low pressure moving up from the S. There is the chance that some of us might see very little snow, that’d be torturous!

snow will come in the form of showers from the east late Sunday evening

showers hit and miss some heavy

obviously the further West you are the more like the showers may not be as heavy and might be light if they die

like when they come in from the northwest and die a death when getting near London

Monday and tues look prime for more

longer spells of snow bands and more frequent activity meaning accumulated snow up to 1 to 20 cm possible

hit and miss

If all that comes to fruition then “Wow!”, but I got an uneasy impression that all is not well towRds the end of next week, hope I’m wrong.

WRF is still forecasting a thames streamer starting around 00z Monday. Wind is a touch more due east so it targets area a touch north of the 06z version. Models tomorrow will be bringing this possiblity into range.

Can you post any pics mate?

Not as cold tonight due to a strengthening south easterly breeze.

arpegeuk-41-19-0.png?23-17

Still below freezing for most (-3/4C in sheltered spots), any cloud should push away as the night goes on.

Tomorrow looks fine with long sunny spells

arpegeuk-41-26-0.png?23-17   arpegeuk-43-27-0.png?23-17

Highs around the same as today (3-5C), it will feel bitter in the wind though.

Saturday night

Clear skies again with a brisk easterly wind

arpegeuk-41-43-0.png?23-17

Again the wind will stop the temperatures dropping too much (-1 to -3C)

Sunday

Another fine day with long sunny spells, cloud will increase later in the east of the region which will be the beginnings of the brutally cold we will see next week. There will be some snow showers overnight.

arpegeuk-41-50-0.png?23-17

Maybe reaching 3/4C in the west but the temperatures will fall away later in the day as the cold air sweeps in.

Next week, temperatures probably no better than around 1C on Monday and falling below freezing probably for the rest of the working week.

The end of next week is a billion years away at the moment.

Enjoy the ride. What happens will happen. We've plenty of weather to get through before this time next week.

Regardless of what the models are saying, various weather agencies, the fake news media, your favourite weather app, everyone in our region is in with a shout for snow between Monday and Wednesday next week, and possibly beyond,

if it settles or not, or how much falls, is a different issue

Someone must have a scientific reason for it because quite often showers go around Deal :cc_confused:

Just need that milder sector to stay a little further south , other wise it becomes a snow to rain event for kent.
