Yes - southern and eastern areas removed and replaced with ‘central and eastern’ and ‘especially eastern’ areas with the south mentioned as ‘perhaps’. Sure we’ll see snow here but definitely a shift in emphasis from the METO wrt snowfall. A touch disappointing albeit early days.

Nothing to worry about. All looks good :D

Of course some folk are concerned on a variation (this is the UK) if it goes wrong, it goes wrong here - if it weren’t for the stunning/outrages chart/charts 6 hours ago / 3 days ago - no toys would be thrown.

So simple.....

You have to laugh the evening BBC news weather just now with Susan Powell

”last of the weather fronts whilst this high pressure takes charge and things will become very BORING”

Although she mentioned ‘biting easterly winds’ at the end..

Meanwhile net weather members talk of stocking up on can food

General public still none the wiser of the Croydon emergency gritting... lol

I got a nasty feeling most of the snow showers are going to north of norfolk where there is a longer sea track, winds need a bit more north east in then here in south east, models showing east ,south east winds at mo,lincs and yorkshire coasts will be in for some beefy showers think

It is strange insular world we all inhabit on here as prosumers of the weather models output - seems a lot of professional broadcasters / meteos seem hardly fussed !

even on the local southeast weather ,they just said the outlook is settled and drier :cc_confused:

edit...NICK L on the mad thread just posted that there will be severe disruption over large swathes of the country , so where are the meteogroup getting their ideas from.

They are reading from a script and don't have a clue. Matt from BBC Weather has updated his video which includes possible snow outcome

I think a lot of the BBC forecasters are embarrassed with what they’ve been scripted to say. Check their twitter accounts for genuine thoughts.

Re: BBC/Met Office Forecasts.

60 million people in the UK rely on them. Business rely on them for normal running etc.. they absolutely cannot start talking about feet of snow this far out for a couple of reasons.

1. It'll cause unnecessary panic to the elderly

2. If it doesn't happen, it ruins their reputation and are less likely to be believed.

This is shaping up to what could be quite a serious weather event, the BBC and Met Office are not just going to willy nilly ramp it up when the snow lets face it is still almost a week away. Whilst it'd be nice for us weather folk for BBC forecasts to show raging blizzards and feet of snow, that's just not the reality and they have to be sensible about it.

Come Thursday, I suspect they'll be talking about it more seriously, at the moment it's just too early.

I don't post often.....  I mostly post to say 'Ooooh, it's snowing', which is probably why I don't post often :D  I do lurk a fair bit though and one thing I've read time and time again is get the cold in first and then look for snow.  Surely that's what's happening now?  The cold is coming, let's be grateful for that at least.  I'd take some lovely cold sunny days over the 2 days of grey drizzly weather I've just had!

The Look East forecast was even more hard work.

”wintry light flurry possible early next week”

Meanwhile... on net weather...

:cold:.... “can I freeze bread?”

:cc_confused:

The Met office are certainly talking about it publicly. BBC and meteo group seem to be way off the mark IMHO.

They're talking about cold weather and the risk of snow, they are not calling feet of snow or widespread blizzards, BBC are talking about the cold weather next week, they're just not going into detail which I think is about right.
