Well I don't share your pessimism this time round mate, the default Northern Hemisphere weather pattern is about to go into reverse which will greatly improve our chance of Winter proper. :good:

Well optimism hasn't got me anywhere

It’s a bit too negative on here ATM. After all; what’s the point of being on here if we don’t have a little hope or even some ramping every now and again.

Anyway GFS 12 Z makes less of the mild sector on Tuesday morning which is good. I‘ll look in some more detail later.

And why is that then please expand?

Yes no problem. Firstly it would be the trend of every single forecasted  snowfall event has been downgraded from something quite major to a whimper. Around 4 times this has happened this winter. Secondly the time of year; it is now pushing mid February and although, I am aware, it can snow on February and march as we push towards spring the legnthening days the chances of a long significant snap are reduced. Following today's apparent downgrade from what again could haven been a potentially decent snowfall event I have decided to throw the towel in. I know I rub a lot of people up the wrong way here and I am hugely unpopular, thankfully I have a thick skin, but my analysis and predictions this winter get have been spot on. And this is because it has been based on (a) maturity and (b) most importantly experience. Thank you.

Birmingham and Gloucester are much further inland than us though, so there's more chances for something substantial. Maybe we need to start building onto the north of Wales...

Gloucester is closer to the sea than I am. Would covering the Irish Sea in decking help?

Snowmaggedon incoming according to MetO and the now much more pessimistic BBC app is forecasting a bit of snow. This going to be good. There will be widespread snow to low levels across the entirety of the north west, to complement the winter olympics is on; how nice would it be to see some of that over here.

Fun and Games in the Northern Ireland regional... torrential rain intermixed with huge snow flakes....flooding.  It will probably lose it's intensity by the time it reaches our parts.

Well the latest Liverpool TAF is rather fun.

 Possible - 04:00-08:00 - sleet showers/Graupel showers with cumulonimbus.

 08:00-18:00 - snow showers/graupel showers with cumulonimbus.

  Possible - 10:00-18:00 - thunderstorms/heavy snow.
