Just had the odd very shortlived fleeting bit of snow today, its a green rather than white landscape. However, things are set to change, winds are going to become stronger and turn more easterly, lower uppers as well, greater convection, our best chance of heavy snow comes in the next 24 hours. This morning was a damp squib here, a skittering, but tomorrow morning could be quite different.

Later in the week - it all gets very messy, will the fronts make it this far north?

Tomorrow should be an ice day.

I’m hoping once the Wind veers a bit in the early hours the showers that seem to want to start east of Manchester might head my way.  Maybe the stuff near Blackburn might come near me for now. Not particularly bothered at the moment though as I’m interested to see how far this temperature can fall. Down to -2.3°C now.

My ”dark sky” app wants snow to start in 40 minutes but it’s been giving me false hope all day like that. Let’s see if the shower can hold it together.

I reckon that blob east of Blackburn will hit us at Chorley around 7.10-15 and at Blackburn maybe around about now.

Fizzling out

Some of the showers are very localised and can be hit and miss for people living not very far from each other.  So I've had a few whiteout showers today, particularly this morning but also alot of long sunny, dry periods in between.

Some serious lines of showers around the York area and East of York. Hopefully they can hold together by the time they reach our region.

We are now starting to enter the coldest phase of this 'Best from the East', very low temps and dew points tonight, tomorrow and into Thursday.
