Hail shower here.  It starts off as snowy flakes and raises one's expectation but the main meal is heavy wet hail which quickly melts once the shower has passed through.

The showers moving in Scotland and more especially, N Ireland, are really strong. These are expected to move across this evening aren’t they?

Big fat snow flakes, hail, sleet. Everything but the kitchen sink.

Not sure.

Gfs has downgraded this evening but then again its beyond useless as it had the entire region down for heavy snow all day today.

Big chunk of precipitation stretching from Preston to Bradford which looks to be slipping Southwards. Could provide a decent covering here if it maintains its intensity. Temps dropping all the while now so more favourable for snow to stick.

Sunny here now, we've just had the first proper snow shower, small flakes but definitely snow. It's been gradually moving from rain and hail to snow during the day. Just hope there's enough precipitation later on?

You've got to love modern winters, the ground being wetter from the first half of this shower's covering melting during the interlude while we were caught in the gap, meaning the second half is now really struggling to stick!

Both BBC and met office have this down as the light snow with heavy snow this evening/overnight. Well, I have to say I really can't wait for the heavy stuff is this the light stuff. :) Off to find a shovel
