Heswall actually has less than lower down the hill.. go figure. First pic is near Arrows Park second is Heswall.. the grit has had an effect but there is a slight thaw.

Beautiful out there, maybe 2cm in centre of Preston a bit more possibly.    2cm of lying powder snow, and 30cm long icicles under the bridge into Avenham Park, thats already made this a memorable spell for whatever ever happens next.

Excellent Chris, just imagining it, on a day I'm in snowless London! Accrington tomorrow should be different!

Looks like this is the last heavy batch for a couple of hours when we get the heavier stuff to the north

To be honest, Euro 4 has been hopeless. It was abysmal yesterday, underestimated shower development and it was suggesting no lying snow for our region for this morning. Can not take this model seriously now without a gritter load of salt!

Totally agree, only posted it because it now looks good lol. GFS, ICON & HIRLAM have performed well over this low.

Is that also forecast to cross the whole region?

The way it's angled, I'd assume so.

Hit the bullseye with this one! Makes a change (I live in Widnes now, not Runcorn anymore). Eased off now.

Euro4 never, ever predicts snow in Cumbria, that's a fact.

If Euro4 was correct I wouldn't have seen snow in Penrith since the last Ice age.

Sometimes knowledge and experience of similar previous synoptics is better than these million pound computers .

Against the models I told the wife it would snow last night and it did, she thinks I am a genius! Lol

Looks like there's a cull in the wind, no wind at all really...should pick up through the day and into tomorrow, hopefully to drive those showers in the east over the Pennines.

Nice to see BBC sending reporter to Yorks middle of Amber warning yet reporter states Merseyside had it bad. We all know it's not that bad, but it shows how hard it is to forecast snow.  ?

A beautiful covering in Piccadilly. A couple of cms of powder snow. It makes all the crappy slush we had in recent winters a distant memory.

I hope we hold on to as much cloud cover as possible to save as much snow as possible till the sun sets.
