What snow from today? Barely anything here and what little there has been blown off to never never land in the stupid gale. I'd like Storm Emma to progress northward very much, and the bring some milder air in; not a fan of absolutely freezing weather with minimal snow.

I don't mind missing out on a normal cold spell as that's to be expected, but when we get a spell so severe as this then 2 inches that lasted half a day is really really poor. I will remember this for all the wrong reasons and we must be in about 10% of the country who look set to miss out (unless there is a surprise between now and Sat but not expecting it now).

A few tree's beginning to come down looking at the reports, it might not necessarily be due to the strength of the wind as the ground is frozen-solid but rather the side-effects of ice and accumulated snow weighing on the branches

If it just going to be ordinary cold/chilly and dry I would rather it just warmed up and Spring arrived.

Yes 4 roads closed round here with trees down along with about 7 with snow the roads that are open are crawling. I think some trees look covered in sheets of ice

There is nothing normal about this spell with or without snow.

Right now I don't think any model has handled this systems' northward track and speed well at all. GFS now probably best representation, but even that looks slow.

Not surprised trees are coming down in the region, the wind seems to be as strong as it's been all day.  Bits and pieces of flakes flying through the air but nothing too alarming after the mid afternoon lull.

Correct, but Mucka is right without any snow it's pretty useless. Who wants bitterly cold cloudy dry weather?

I think that's why he said not for long It's been freezing for what feels like weeks even if it's only been under a week. I got more snow from the Feb 11 event than I currently have lying in my garden: in areas where it hasn't all been blown away anyway. Half the fun of cold is snow, of course many of us feel short changed by this event when looking at Scotland, the north east and the south west.

Wind is howling and blowing the snow about. My side of the street has about 2 inch cover, the other side about 10 inch cover !!!
