Very frustrating for us folk in the south and west of the region light snow here but just swirling around in the breeze and not touching the ground I really hope the front tomorrow reaches here Carol on breakfast this morning said tomorrow the snow will be in a line from Liverpool bay to London.i am not looking for a amber warning and severe depths of snow a 5cm covering for me and the kids to play out in would be good.it really is gut wrenching when your six year old daughter can see all the scenes from across the country and region and says daddy why is it not snowing here,so difficult to explain to her.

C.S

I totally agree. I would rather have one good spell of a decent amount where you can sledge and build snowmen etc than lots of little events. Yes, I have seen some beautiful scenes but I can't help but be disappointed when you factor in what is all around me snow wise. I really hoping for a dumping so my nephew who is 5 can actually play properly in it for the first time.

Fun fact. There hasn’t been any rain for nearly 2 weeks. That’s pretty rare here.

True and that reminds me of March 2013. I remember in April when things started to get a bit milder and it started to rain it felt unusual to see rain. lol

Warnings seem to be an upgrade. Basically, snow showers or snow continuing through until late tomorrow at least.

Update for snow starved Merseyside.

Between 00:05 Fri 2nd and 23:55 Fri 2nd

Further snow showers or perhaps longer spells of snow are likely at times through Friday. There is an increasing chance that a further spell of more persistent snow may move north into parts of southern England, Wales and central England during the day. Icy stretches are likely on untreated surfaces. In addition, strong winds will lead to further drifting or blowing around of existing snow cover. Delays and cancellations to public transport are possible, as are delays to travel on roads; some stranding of vehicles and passengers could also occur. Some rural communities could become, or remain cut off. Interruptions to power supplies and mobile phone coverage are also possible.

How can a meteorological service give a red warning for the whole country? The UK Met has so far only put Northern Ireland under a yellow warning for Friday and yet you hop over the border to Donegal and its under red. Can you imagine if the UK Met put the whole of Wales under a red warning?

Its even deeper top of ripponden road..people saying drifts over 6 foot now..

And all we got was a yellow warning.unbelievable jeff.

Probably deeper further up towards buckstones road. I've got 2ft drifting approaching my front door. Could be literally snowed in by tonight. Met o warnings officially suck but then again I do always say don't trust snow amount charts in setups like this.

A lot of talk about the swathe of precipitation over central and SE England in the Yorkshire thread. Suggestion that this is not associated with Emma, but convective activity breaking out in conjunction with moisture from the North Sea. Could be further developments. This could explain and tie in with the additional amber and yellow warnings.

The flurry of snow is evaporating as it hits the ground. Very strange to see.. it's also melting on some surfaces which is odd
