North west regional discussion

Why did I move out of the north East? Looks absolutely amazing up there.

This hasn't been a bad cold spell here in Blackburn though. Freezing cold. Nye on impossible to measure snow depth due to constant drifting and the insane winds. Measured in a slightly shaded spot and got 3 inches on Monday and 3 inches today, so not as much as Feb 11th event lying, but the snow blowing effect these conditions produce is something I've never seen before; like sand in a desert blowing around a drifting it all over the place. Few showers that I'd class as mini-blizzards and the potential for a proper blizzard tonight or tomorrow depending on the track of that low pressure system. Any update on that?

Nice to see the more eastern areas of our region getting an absolute pasting though.

If the wind stays east we will be ok :good: it's that south-easterly which is a problem for most of Gtr Manchester.

It looks like staying easterly till Saturday. To be honest, I want this cold spell to last as long as possible regardless of whether we get any more snow or not.

The warning was to extend the amber warning further south, its just 5-10 miles north of me though unfortunately.

Cloudy this morning, no sign of any overnight ppn, overnight min. -5.6C, currently -0.7C.  Dry but although I haven't ventured outdoors looking at the trees I'd say moderate breeze F4.

Still snowing but not quite as heavy. A guy has been clearing the roads here with a snowplough on his Land Rover. He got into trouble with Cheshire East council though.

Snow is heavyish here now. If it wasn’t for that wind we would’ve had a couple of inches easy
