I know mate! It’s starting to be on a par with 2010 now! Interesting to see what happens with that low

There were supposed to be to waves from that. The first pummelling Ireland and Wales and SW before it then starts pushing north. This cold blast could trump 2010 :D

Must of had over a foot of snow now can’t tell because of the drifting....immense... waist height near house but must be approaching five to six foot in fields, side roads... can’t believe it’s still snowing too...complete whiteout... and no amber warning...  my family in Somerset around Taunton taking red warning seriously though...

Here's the result of snow all night down here:

I think it's all blowing off the frozen surfaces until it reaches a gritted road, where it sticks and melts.

Still absolutely piling down here, certainly approaching depths like Jan 2010, but I think this is even more impressive because of the drifts which were not present back then.

Heaviest snow so far in the city centre. It has intensified in the last 20 minutes.

Pour got water on the pipes should free them up

Yes, its risky though, in Dec 2010 here, the water meter blew, had no water all weekend after pipes were frozen, they came on the Monday, fitted a new meter but he said he couldn't de frost the pipes because it was too risky that they would burst and the whole block would be without water and he would be responsible, so we just got blower heaters out and blew hot air on them and it did the trick.

Yes, probably the best bet is go in quite low with water  temperature initially, half boiling kettle and accept it might take a while but less risky, then if it doesn't do any good, just keep upping the ante.

I am trying to guess how that band of snow in the south and east Anglia is going to move. It seems to be edging northwestwards. Normally I would say that this is a recipe for a rainshadow for us but this is not a typical cold spell and snow has largerly survived the passage of the hills as we saw yesterday and so far today.

The 6z gfs shows a continuous flow of Arctic air into north Atlantic for the next 7 days ago. Should lead to some notable negative anomalies in the sea surface temperatures.

I am now hoping this area of snow will linger until the approaching cloud arrives from the front gives us an Ice day.

Continuous light snow. Think this is the last day we’ll see snow falling. Not much on the ground. It’s all being blown everywhere

If the wind stays east we will be ok :good: it's that south-easterly which is a problem for most of Gtr Manchester.
