-8.1'c in Buxton overnight with windchill temps this morning at -11'c alongside the drifting-powdery snow, i'm fairly certain the rash of showers over Sheffield that are continually heading this way weren't forecast.

Whiteout scenes here and under a red warning, doesn't even start until 3pm but we've already had over an inch.

And? Sounds like someone’s rubbing it in a bit too much.

Unreal scenes here, m62 closed at milnrow, no cars moving on side streets, amber if not red it should be

Ripponden road was moving when I came down earlier.... Plenty of snow on the road thou.

Measuring snow depth is not possible, some areas have been stripped clean and other are 2 foot deep at least..... I know Platten road is covered completely 4 foot in places apparently.

What its going to look like around Grains barn.....:cold:

Shouldn't you all be out in it if it's that good? I know I would in daylight hours.

Don't be nasty, I've posted in this thread a few times and get on with the majority.

Your posting in north west thread about conditions in south wales. You have posted before and is fine but now sounds like gloating

Ignore them, it's interesting to read.

Thanks mate, we're unlucky down here in Cardiff and this has happened for the first time ever so you can imagine why I'm excited. Up to 50cm with huge drifts.

I’m sure they weren’t and they are making their way straight across to the Macclesfield side as well.

This Easterly has delivered to areas in the East of the North West but those further West will be wondering what all the fuss is about....but look at the kind of Beasterly it has needed to be... strong to gale force easterly winds over 3 days with nearly record low dew points.  The March 2013 'easterly' didn't bring the major snowfall from the East in convective form like we have now, it was a weather system approaching from the South West which pulled in the very cold air to the east and turned the rain to snow on it's north eastern flank.

This Easterly has been amazing here, but the two north westerlies in Nov/Dec 2010 still take some beating in terms of volume of snow dropped.
